Marseilles Moonlight

A Classic Prom Background. Moonlight reflects on the Mediterranean, while the lights of a sleepy French country village twinkle on shore. The deep blue sky is filled with stars--even a distant comet, our way of commemorating the brief, happy appearance of the comet Hale-Bopp.

The play of light and shadow on the railing is stunning, making this painted prop looking as real as if we'd hired masons to build a real one. A realistic marble floor is little more than paint on muslin.

(The flowers were leftover from a Prom we'd photographed the night before and aren't necessary to complete the scene.)
